Those who can't, edit.

Writer.

That's where I thought I was headed.  "She's such a good writer!"  But.

I'm crippled by perfectionism.

Commas and prepositions and adverbs like weeds.

Profound while I'm writing it, and transformed in the reading to chaff.  Too many words, always.  Edit and edit and edit, until the profundity is dead and I'm unrecognizable.  Edit until it's not what I was saying at all.

Self doubt.

Editor.

Because I don't know how to stop.

Now it's part of my job, and I can't help but wonder at the wonder of it all.  'She's an amazing proof reader!"

As if it isn't my failing.

  2. I think that is true of all of us. We all walk through self-doubt, and maybe over-edit ourselves. I'm also "crippled by perfectionism" much of the time. Although, I'm sure I misuse commas, prepositions and adverbs. :) This was great! Thanks for sharing!

  3. Oh wonderful, a blog with words wonderful words. I would love to read more of your words. Writing prompts rock. Maybe I should try some when I'm feeling wordless.
And, thanks for the blog visit. Without readers, writing can feel a little pointless sometimes.

  4. I just took a minute to stop and check in on my blog to see if any comments needed publishing and I read your nice words and see you have become a follower. I skimmed through your post and glanced down the page and know that I will be back soon, hopefully in the next couple of days. There is things I see that interest me. Of course you posted that you are a crocheter and that you had a teacher whose last name was Tyree......ahhh, they are all related somewhere on the family tree, maybe on the fringes, but all the same they are kin. Of course I will follow you too, there is always room for one more friend. I like to think we are all like a blanket, maybe a quilt, the threads and patches making up the only race on earth, the human race. Thank you for landing on my blog, and thank you for being brave enough to leave a comment. There are a lot of shy folk out there, but that is okay. Love you all ♥
